About us

After 10 years of working only with nonprofits, I decided to try my team’s skills at education sector.

OptimumFoodie was founded to change the love-hate relationship people have with “dieting” or eating healthy. Our goal is to make weight loss and healthy eating, doable, enjoyable and very importantly, SUSTAINABLE.

Our Story Starts in early 2017

The journey to founding OptimumFoodie started after I spent over a year feeling extremely body conscious and hating my body, all thanks to an ever-growing belly. I finally made a commitment to get my life and freedom back, and after many numerous failed attempts, I finally decided to work with a nutrition coach, and it worked!

After that, let’s just say I became obsessed with nutrition, the results were just mind-blowing! 🙀 But… there were a few issues.

While my diet helped me get rid of my belly fat, I quickly realised I was spending half my salary on food 🙆🏽‍♀️, it was just too expensive! On top of that, it was overly restrictive, there were so many foods I was not allowed to eat, no rice, no bread, no noodles 😭.

Don’t get me wrong, I was happy that I got results, but I was slowly realizing that I could not follow this diet for long, and the fear of going back to square one became real very quickly. 

So I had a new goal, to find a way to burn fat while still eating everyday Nigerian meals, including CARBS! Following months of research, and getting double certified I finally did it! (PS. My first certification was for Nutrition in Disease Management from the Health Academy Australia, and the second as a Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, from the Integrative Institute of Nutrition, US)

I was able to help my dad reverse his pre-diabetes, while my uncle lost 10kg, and was able to half his dose of insulin (a blood sugar medication). All of these were achieved  while still eating their regular Nigerian meals. 

OptimumFoodie was founded soon after in February 2017, with the aim of helping people achieve their weight loss and health goals without ever feeling like they were on a diet! At OptimumFoodie, our clients are able to reach their goal while still eating the meals they love, carbs and all.

In the course of interacting with our clients, I noticed just how misinformed people were about nutrition (it’s crazy how much nonsense and BS people read on the internet and IG 🤦🏽‍♀️), and so, education became a big part of our solution; through my book, What Should I be Eating, and our online classes.

As we grew, it became apparent that the busy schedules of many of our clients was becoming a huge problem. This inspired us to create ways to help them fit a healthy lifestyle into their busy schedules. Thanks to our Quick Meal Options and our Eat-Out Guides, our clients have been able to stay in shape even when they have little to zero time to cook, or are travelling.

We are super excited every time someone joins #TeamOptimumFoodie, and that’s because of the incredible life-changing transformation that we know is about to happen for them. So, if you are really trying to make better and smarter lifestyle choices, without feeling deprived or allowing the stress and busyness of your schedule to get in the way, then I want to personally welcome you on this journey with us!

On a final note, my passion for child education inspired OptimumFoodie’s commitment to donating 3% of its annual profits to its non-profit partners towards providing quality education to disadvantaged children in Nigeria. It is my dream to give them the opportunity to fulfil their potential and eventually make their own contribution to building our nation.
